Below are some of my favorite Links to places where you can get free sound and music files to use in your movies.  Most files are in MP3 format.

Vimeo Music Store – Offers both free and paid music licensed under Creative Commons where you can listen to, sample, mash-up, or interact with music in whatever way you want. To search FREE music — Press the “advanced options” link under the search button to expand the menu. There you’ll find a slew of options including “Price Range” where you can search for only free tracks.

ccMixter – ccMixter is a community music site featuring remixes licensed under Creative Commons where you can listen to, sample, mash-up, or interact with music in whatever way you want.

The Freesound Project – The Freesound Project is a collaborative database of Creative Commons licensed sounds.  Freesound focusses only on sound, not songs.

Jimmy G – A musician that is more than a singer, more than a instrumentalist, more than a guitarist, more than a pianist, or more than the sum of their parts.  He puts out many different styles of music and its all licensed under Creative Commons.

Jamendo – Jamendo is a community of free, legal and unlimited music published under Creative Commons licenses.  Share your music, download your favorite artists!

Incompetech – Music by Kevin MacLeod.  Free to use privately or commercially.  Will also compose custom scores or songs for a fee.  licensed under Creative Commons.
